Children: Run, Jump, Throw (Track)

THIS COURSE IS NOT CURRENTLY BEING OFFERED DUE TO RENOVATIONS IN THE ATHLETIC CENTRE. Future program TBA.  Run Jump Throw is a recreation program that introduces children ages 6-12 to running, jumping and throwing events from the sport of track and field. Participants will learn specific drills to improve speed, rhythm, strength and balance; skills which are transferable to other sports and activities. Training sessions will be held at the 200m indoor track located in the David Braley Athletic Centre. This program is delivered in partnership with Stoney Creek Athletics, a registered member of the Minor Track Association and Athletics Ontario. Fee: $76.00

Fencing (Fall, Spring, Summer only)

Try Fencing! Improve your coordination and reflexes and have fun doing it! Dave O’Donnell, Head Coach of the McMaster Varsity Fencing Team as well as varsity members will lead these classes. This 8 week program is restricted to McMaster students, staff and faculty for the fall program and is not offered in the winter. Scuba Certification

Experience the wonder of the underwater world and earn your PADI scuba certification. The professional Instructors at Burlington’s Float N' Flag Dive Centre will mentor you through this course, designed to provide you with the best combination of diving theory & diving skills. Their experience and expertise will help make you a confident & safe certified SCUBA diver. You will become familiar with various types of scuba equipment & develop confidence with the use of scuba gear in the pool in preparation for your open water check-out dives in the spring/summer. Upon successful completion of the course, your PADI certification card will be recognized in all parts of the world, so you’ll be able to dive anywhere you go and see amazing things, meet amazing people and have amazing fun. The course fee includes instruction and use of all scuba equipment (mask, fins, snorkel, regulator, buoyancy compensator, weight belt, weights and scuba tanks). Medical form and waiver are required. A FREE information night will be held on Wednesday October 4, 2017. Registration deadline: Friday, October 13, 2017. Materials required are available at the DBAC Registration Office in advance. Course Fee: $192.00 Members and McMaster Students; $277.00 non-members plus HST Materials Fee (DVD, textbook, diver logbook): $124.00 plus HST Open Water Dives: $200.00 plus HST (includes all scuba equipment)

Squash lessons are taught by members of our Varsity Squash Team. Raquets and goggles are provided, or bring your own. Lessons will provide participants with the opportunity to develop their squash skills or refresh skills previously learned. No experience is necessary. If interested please email Heidi O'Brien at obrienh@mcmaster.ca  to be connected with an instructor. Private lessons can only be purchased once it is confirmed an instructor is available. Lessons are 40 minutes long but can be booked back to back for an 80 minute lesson. Fees: McMaster Students and Members: $30/lesson,  Non-Members: $35/lesson  A minimum of two lessons must be purchased initially, and can be added on one at at time after that.

Triathlon (Cross Training Programme, Fall/Winter o

THIS COURSE IS NOT CURRENTLY BEING OFFERED DUE TO RENOVATIONS IN THE ATHLETIC CENTRE. Future programming TBA. Are you looking for a training experience that is more intense than recreation? Are you an aspiring triathlete? Dr. Roy Till is an NCCP certified triathlon and cycling coach. His coaching philosophy is inclusive with a goal of helping all athletes to try and reach their goals. Monday workouts are on our Indoor Track, Wednesday cycling is in our Cycling Studio in the Pulse. Please note no sleeveless tops are allowed in the Pulse. (Swimming training is available through the Master’s Swim Programme, which is a separate registration.)
