Appalachian Trail Section Trip

Trip: April 19 - 21
Registration on RWC Connect: January 10 - April 16
Cost: $50 (includes transportation, gear, food, and guided experience)
'Auburn Outdoors is hitting the trail this Semester to take on Blood Mountain, Georgia's highest peak on the Appalachian Trail. The Appalachian Trail is a popular hiking trail that winds along 2,184 miles from Georgia to Maine. Join us on a weekend backpacking trip that will earn you the right to claim you've hiked a section of the AT. This trip is intended for participants with some experience backpacking. Participants should be able to travel on uneven surfaces and carry up to 35 lbs. Transportation, gear, food, and guided experience are included in the trip fee. A required pre-trip meeting will be held on April 16 at 5 P.M. at Auburn Outdoors. Cancellations after the pre-scheduled pre-trip meeting for extended or weekend trips will NOT receive a refund of any funds. Cancellations made more than 5 days from the day of the trip, will be refunded less $10, IF Auburn Outdoors is able to replace the participant with a member from the waitlist. All cancellations should be communicated through auburnoutdoors@auburn.edu.

Backpacking Basics is designed for those new to backpacking or experienced backpackers looking to level up their skills. Are you tired of eating ramen or instant mashed potatoes on the trail? Do you want to learn how to pack nutrient-dense foods that will fuel your toughest adventures? Join us at Auburn Outdoors to learn how to use a backpacking stove and how to plan your meals for your next backpacking adventure. You'll cook a backpacking meal and take home a scrumptious snack! If you are unable to attend the workshop after registration, please cancel online up to 4 hours in advance of the workshop. Basics of Photography Workshop / Trip

Taking photographs outside is a skill you can learn! Camera terms like 'aperature' and 'ISO' can be intimidating when learning photography, but on this trip we'll learn what these words mean and use them in the wild. We will have some class time before heading to Columbus, GA to photograph whitewater rafting. You can bring your own camera or cameras will be provided by the university library. Lunch and transportation are included in the trip fee.

Bear In Mind Workshop

From bears to ants to racoons, wildlife encounters can be scary, annoying, and downright dangerous. In this workshop, you'll learn how to manage your 'smellable items' to help prevent unwanted wildlife encounters. Duckie Day: Montgomery Whitewater Kayak Trip

Join Auburn Outdoors for a day in a duck! 'Ducks' or inflatable kayaks are the perfect thing to take your love for whitewater to the next level. This whitewater trip will be like no other - you'll paddle man-made rapids through continuous Class II Whitewater at the Montgomery Whitewater Center. Transportation, boat rental and food are included in the trip fee.

Fly Fishing Trip

Registration on RWC Connect: January 10 - April 21 Cost: $25 (includes transportation, gear, food, and guided experience) Go fly fishing on the Tallapoosa River to experience what Alabama's cleanest and prettiest river has to offer. During your 5.4-mile float trip along the river, you'll fly fish the Redeye and Alabama Bass. You will also be able to experience much of the Tallapoosa's indigenous wildlife including Bald Eagles, Ospreys, Otters, and more. Transportation, gear, food, and guided experience are included in the trip fee. If you are unable to attend the trip after registration, please request cancellation through auburnoutdoors@auburn.edu. Cancellations for programs costing $10 or less will not result in a refund. Failure to communicate cancellations in advance will result in a $10 no-show fee.

Fundies

Registration is open all semester on RWC Connect. All workshops take place at the climbing wall from 7 - 9 p.m.

Learn how to belay and tie knots for top rope climbing as well as proper equipment usage and commands used at Auburn Outdoors' Climbing Wall. Participants are eligible to take the Top Rope Skills Verification 24 hours after attending this workshop. Top Rope Skills Verification permits members to belay other members at Auburn Outdoors' Climbing Wall. If you are unable to attend the workshop after registration, please cancel online up to 4 hours in advance of the workshop. If you must cancel within 4 hours of the program, please communicate with auburnoutdoors@auburn.edu. Failure to communicate in advance will result in a $10 no-show fee.

Paddleboard Yoga Trip

Namaste, all day! Spend this summer morning on Chewacla Lake at Chewacla State Park for a unique yoga class on stand-up paddle boards. This class will be led by a professional yoga instructor. Transportation, yoga instruction, park entry, and bike rental are included in trip registration.

Standing Boy: Intermediate Mountain Biking Trip

Join Auburn Outdoors for a day on the trails at Standing Boy Mountain Biking area. With over 1,500 acers of land and trails ranging from easy to expert, we have a full day of biking ahead of us. Stitch It Up: Sewing Stitches for Repairing Outdoo

Rips and tears can happen at any time - especially in the outdoors! Learning how to manage and repair these tears can be the difference between a great time outdoors and ruining your gear in the long run. In this workshop, you'll learn basic stitches, practicing them on different outdoor materials. Bonus! If you have a piece of gear that you want to sew, bring it with you to the workshop, and we'll help you stitch it back up! Whitewater Rafting Trip - Chattahoochee

You don't need to travel far for adventure, there is so much to do right here in Auburn's backyard. Join Auburn Outdoors for an exciting rafting trip down the Chattahoochee River. You'll experience a quick start at Ambush Rapid, relax in our natural lazy river, paddle back into rapids to ‘surf’ the waves, and take on exciting rapids like the notorious Pemberton Falls. This well-rounded trip is the perfect combination of fun and adventure. Whitewater rafting fee, lunch and transportation are included in the trip fee.
